Staff Explanations
This section gives a general overview of how the staff system works.
Our current tracks are as follows:
Trainee => Helper => Moderator => Sr-Moderator
The hierarchy system functions as a way of giving staff permissions specific to them.
When you are in vanish on the server, staff who are a higher rank than you will still
be able to see you. As well as this, you will only be able to remove or modify a
punishment if the punishment was issued/executed by a staff member with the same or
lower rank than you.
Staff are held to a higher standard than other members on Modify, however due to this, staff also get final say in all punishments, and results of tickets. Members are not allowed to request other staff to review something and they are not allowed to harass staff members over their decisions.
We expect staff members to be respectful to the community, you have to meet these requirements: " All staff members of the server, especially Admins+, must maintain a positive public image and refrain from trash talking or engaging in negative public discourse about other servers, communities, individuals or anything related to bad behavior". Any staff found not metting these requirements will be removed from the staff team.
Explanation
Trainee is the rank that people receive after having their staff application
accepted and passing the interview. They aren't meant to do too much, their main
goal should be trying to learn how to do a helper's job by asking questions to
their mentor in their assigned mentorship channel.
A trainee will remain that rank until the managementteam decides they should be
promoted to helper or demoted.

This is how staff waves as well as how staff get demoted and promoted work.
Staff applications get accepted based on the applicant's previous activity on
the server and in the Discord, their punishment history, and their answers to
the scenario and long explanation questions. If someone shares their account
with anyone, their application will be immediately denied.
Applications that are likely to be accepted are from applicants who play often,
every day or two, and talk a lot in the Discord, don't have punishments or were
a long time ago, and have long/detailed answers to questions and reasons for
wanting to become a staff member.
Applications that are likely to be rejected are if the applicant shares an
account, used AI in their response, have been banned somewhat recently, ar below
the age of 15, haven't put much effort in, haven't been active, and people who
have joined the server recently.
If your application passes the inital auditing process, you will be asked to
come to an interview in-game through a ticket in the Discord. You will have 5
days to respond to the ticket or you will lose the chance to become staff. If
you pass the interview, you will be given a role in the FFA Discord that will
give you access to the staff invite channel. You are required to go to this
channel and join the Modify Staff Discord for access to all the staff channels.
Promotions can happen at any time, they aren't the same as applications which
typically only happen once a month. For example, a trainee will be promoted to
helper as soon as the management team thinks they are ready instead of having to
wait for a staff wave.
Due to this, trainees specifically may not be promoted for a while if we don't
think they are trying to learn by asking their mentor questions in their
assigned mentorship channel. For more information, check the trainee role
explanation.
Promotions are not only based on tickets done or amount of people punished
(although we do take them into account), we primarily base them on if we believe
we can trust you enough to be promoted and if we can see you actively want to
make the server better. Another factor of you being promoted is how well you get
along with staff, we want a staff team that can work well together.
Similar to promotions, these can happen at any time and do not require to be
during a staff wave (although we will mainly be looking at staff inactivity
demotions around the staff wave). You can be demoted for a lot of different
reasons and sometimes we won't share what it is.
Unlike other servers, demotions on Modify are likely to be a full staff demotion
(and sometimes ban) rather than going down one or two ranks. This is due to the
reasons we demote normally being punishable if they were a player. We also fully
demote for things that players are unable to do such as abusing as even if you do
lose the permission to abuse, you are extremely likely to abuse again if given the
chance.
Another common reason for being demoted on Modify is being inactive, of course we
do recognise that you can be busy and have things come up, if that is the case you
can read staff inactivity. However, if we feel as though you are being too
inactive (months without end, even if due to IRL reasons) you may be removed from
the staff team and can reapply when you aren't as busy IRL.
Leaking staff information will cause you to get demoted, this can be sharing
punishment evidence, the staff who punished a player, staff announcements, etc.
There is also a high likelihood you will be banned if you leak staff information,
especially if it contains someone's personal information.
This is what staf should do if they're going inactive for some time.
If you are going to be inactive for a while, we request that you put however long you
believe you'll be and your reason for being inactive into the Modify Staff Discord. If
you're only going to be inactive for 0-3 days, you aren't required to do this.
To announce an inactive period, go to the staff inactivity channel and send a message
with the following format:
IGN: [Your MC username]
Duration: [However long you think you'll be]
Reason: [Reason for being inactive]
This will let us take into account when we are deciding who should be demoted for
inactivity. However, reasons such as you can't be bothered will be held against you
and might even lead to a demotion.
Staff inactivity only applies if you physically can't be on Discord or MC, if you are
just doing other activities online (such as SMPs) then you can still be demoted.

This is what staff should do after they punish someone.
After punishing someone in-game or in the Discord, staff are required to log it in the Modify Staff Discord. After punishing someone, go to the evidence logs channel and create a new post with the title being the punished player's IGN. Before posting the log, staff also need to apply the respective tags for the punishment. The format for the post will be pinned in the top of the log channel. Staff are not allowed to share any evidence logs to players including the person who got punished.
